How many artists today, release an album with just 3 songs on it? Let alone 2 sides of an LP vinyl record! Mahavishnu album, "Between Nothingness and Eternity" was released way baaaaaack in '73 featured the 21 minute epic "Dream" taking up the whole of side 2! (Its one of those songs, if you can call it a song, where you either like it or hate, it all depends on the "you")

"Yet for all of the superb playing, one really doesn't hear much music on this album; electricity and competitive empathy are clearly not enough, particularly on the 21-minute "Dream" says one expert.
Never the less, it was regarded as ground breaking back then.

This is what Debrah Harry would sound like if she kicked off in the 90's instead of the 70's. (am i being to harsh to Elastica? Dunno) Quirky song though.
"Entering the charts at number one, Elastica's self-titled first album became the fastest-selling debut in the U.K., beating the record Oasis' Definitely Maybe set only seven months earlier. As well as being a popular success, the record received overwhelmingly positive reviews. Like Oasis, Elastica managed to have a hit single in America with "Connection"; the single was a major modern rock radio hit, as well as reaching the Top 100 on the singles chart. Elastica continued to make headway in America by replacing Sinead O'Connor on the 1995 Lollapalooza tour, although the group suffered a blow when Holland announced her exit from the lineup." I like to hear some funky Dixieland/Pretty Mama, come and take me by the hand.

Come and dance with your Daddy (with you) all night long.

It may be pretty odd lryics to Generation Y, but the melody proved to be a standout. So much of a standout it earnt Doobie Brothers a Number 1 Hit in 1974.
"Their first number one single, "Black Water," featured heavy contributions from former Steely Dan member Jeff "Skunk" Baxter. Jeff "Skunk" Baxter who officially joined the Doobie Brothers for 1975's Stampede. Prior to the album's spring release, Johnston was hospitalized with a stomach ailment, and was replaced for the supporting tour by keyboardist/vocalist Michael McDonald, who had also worked with Steely Dan" "As one of the most popular Californian pop/rock bands of the '70s, the Doobie Brothers evolved from a mellow, post-hippie boogie band to a slick, soul-inflected pop band by the end of the decade. Along the way, the group racked up a string of gold and platinum albums in the U.S., along with a number of radio hits like "Listen to the Music," "Black Water" and "China Grove."
