Can one artist build a career on just one song? It would seem so with Steve Harley. Sure his fans would disagree and retort Harley has "stroodles of albums" Maybe so, but the song "come up and see me some time" was his only UK Number 1 hit.
The song itself is infectious, even 30 years later, even the video below captures Harley at his quirky best.
"The Best Years Of Our Lives was made, produced by Beatles recording engineer, Alan Parsons. This included the track "Make Me Smile (Come Up And See Me)" which would go on to be a UK Number One single and the band's biggest selling hit. In a television interview recorded in 2002, Steve Harley described how the lyrics are vindictively directed at the former band members, whom he felt had abandoned him - a fact which eludes a majority of listeners who enjoy the apparently happy chorus."

Sub note 10.05.07: A thought, i have been doing this site for almost a year now, but if there is one song so far (Number 1000 to 418) that i love and look at often, it is this song. It has become one of my all time favourites, the tune and, yes i said "quirkiness" when i originally wrote it and If i get one thing from this "jaunt" of writing this website then i am glad i found this song. I absolutley F**king love it. period.
